All of my best qualities, I inherited from my mother (sorry dad). I like sleeping in, drinking coffee, and reading the news. I got her big blue eyes which I think is our best feature. Some things I wish I had inherited but didn’t. There have been hundreds of times that either me, my brother, my sister, or my dad have walked up to her covered in blood/vomit/other questionable substances and she has calmly got us cleaned up without batting an eye. My biggest fear in life is that I won’t be able to change my own children’s diapers without gagging.
My mother is an incredible cook. She knows that I can’t/don’t like to cook and she is ok with it. She doesn’t try to make me into something I’m not. When I come home, she cooks whatever I want. She spends hours cooking on holidays and lets me sleep while she’s slaving away and never says a word to me.
Will I ever become the type of mother she is? Someone who is completely selfless, loves unconditionally, and is a gentle tooth puller? I hope so.
Happy Mother’s Day Mom!
I love you to the moon and back!
I spend a lot of time with Makael’s mother so I had heard a lot about him. Everything I heard was true. Makael loves to have all eyes on him. He is also very good at dancing, which he showed me on a number of occasions during our session.
This is a late post because I’ve spent most of the evening planting veggies in my backyard. It’s the most ghetto thing you’ve ever seen. I’ll post photos later this week. I’ve never had any interest in gardening before, but for some reason this year I want fresh veggies more than anything. I planted two different types of tomatoes, yellow squash, and cucumbers. I will be planting some honeydew melons later this week. I’ve surprised myself at how excited I am.
Here is a sneak peek for tomorrow’s post. Meet Makeal.
When he first met me, he didn’t quite know whether I was one of the good guys or not. Jackson was a little extra cautious around me, but warmed up quickly. His favorite game is to pretend fall down.
Pretty sure he has the sweetest face I’ve ever seen.
BOOMER SOONER!
I made it to my hometown yesterday afternoon and spent 4 hours at the salon so my sister could get her hair and nails done for graduation. The whole thing wasn’t planned very well because we were cutting it close on getting to the auditorium on time. The graduation went pretty well, aside from a few redneck cheers.
I did a session today and it started raining halfway through it. I wanted to cry because I was freaking out on the inside but I kept checking the LCD screen on the back of my camera and the photos looked good so I kept shooting. In hindsight, I think it was so good for me. I can’t control the weather and am going to have to learn to make the most of whatever conditions I’m shooting in at the time.
I’ll be posting photos as soon as I get back to a fast Internet connection. Have a great weekend everyone!
This is a late post but I just left a going away dinner for my friend Heather who is moving to Midland, TX. I am not good at goodbyes.
Heather, if you’re reading this, I have enjoyed every second I’ve been able to spend with you. What a good and honest friend you have been the past couple of years. Thanks for letting me vent on my bad days. I hope you enjoy Midland and if I’m ever down that way, you’d better have a couch for me to crash on!
Life is pretty simple at the moment. Busy at times, but my routine is relatively unchanged. Sometimes I feel like I’m just waiting for something exciting to happen and sometimes I think the things happening now are plenty exciting.
In the now…
I’m going out of town for the graduation this weekend. Hoping that I find something awesome to shoot while I’m home!
I’ve posted photos of Ellori online before. Her newborn “session” was the first thing I photographed when I first bought my camera last fall. You can check out the post on my old blog here. I love looking at those photos because her mother (my cousin Eva) was so happy with them and I love seeing how my photos have improved since that time.
Ellori is such a sweet baby and her big brother Trace does such a good job looking out after her. She will be walking soon and I can’t wait to chase after her with my camera next time I see her.
Saturday morning I stayed in bed until noon. It was perfect. My dogs weren’t being annoying, the neighbors were quiet, and my phone was on silent. I finally got around and checked the mail. Then I received THE LETTER.
Remember last week’s super sweet photo with yours truly and Rush? Remember how the tall grass made an awesome background? Well the city doesn’t think so. They sent me a letter saying I was in violation of the city code about tall grass and weeds. How do they know the length of the grass in my backyard?
I have until the 9th to mow it or FURTHER ACTION will be taken.
I’m terrified internet, really.
